The hiring process for Group II employees will include at a minimum:
- written exam;
- physical agility test;
- structured oral interview;
- psychological and medical exams (after conditional offer of employment);
- drug test (as part of medical exam);
- background investigation.
The Department will ensure a criminal record check is conducted on all new employees, contractors, and volunteers prior to their assuming duties to identify whether there are criminal convictions that have a specific relationship to job performance.
All applicants, regardless of the position applied for, who have been given a conditional offer of employment, will be required to sign a waiver and undergo a background investigation to determine their suitability for work in a corrections environment and position of trust. This investigation will include at a minimum:
- criminal record check;
- motor vehicle conviction check;
- NCIC/Triple III check;
- local warrant check;
- FBI Fingerprint check;
- personal history questionnaire;
- primary and secondary reference interviews.
